Dear Cedar Heights-
Thank you for all the prayers in regards to Eden's endoscopy. We got the biopsy results earlier this week and they showed no acid injury. The doctor explained that she is still regurgitating and spitting up because the sphincter from her esophagus to her stomach is not fully developed or strong enough. The croup like cough is due to some of the stomach content flowing back into the lungs when she re-swallows what comes up. This is her normal though, and she doesn't think any different of it. There is an reflux surgery but on a child her age, it would likely have to be repeated every couple of years. We all agreed that we would just wait and hope that the muscle gets stronger over time, especially since she is fairly unfazed by these spit up events. I would rather get up with her because of a croupy cough at night then have to see a surgery repeated. She will remain on acid reflux medicine and we will follow up in November. Thanks again.
