My father, Don Champeon, who many of you know, was supposed to go to Venezuela on Tuesday, October 4. On Saturday his right pinky finger was swollen; within a few hours, his whole right hand was twice the size of his other hand. By Tuesday morning the end of his finger was turning black & the red swelling was extending up his arm. My parents cancelled their trip to Venezuela. Last night my father had surgery. The doctors cleaned out the infection in his hand. He is currently in the hospital in Maine & will be there for the rest of the week. The infection is very bad & the doctors are hoping they will not have to amputate his finger. They also do not want this infection to travel to the rest of his arm & body. Please pray for him.
A quick update on me: I'm still using a wheelchair or crutches all the time. I still am having a lot of pain in both knees on a daily basis. One of my doctors has referred me to the Mayo Clinic as he wants another opinion. In his experience, he said he feels I should be walking at this point without pain. Another of my doctors feels that I'm progressing very, very slowly & should be doing better - basically back to normal - by February 2012. There is also a possibility of seeking another opinion in New York City, depending on what we find out at Mayo.
So it is still one day at a time. God has been blessing us through this trial, but there are days that are very difficult. We appreciate so much all of you who have been praying for me & my family. I also appreciate the cards & visits & meals more than I can say. I miss being at church & youth group on a regular basis. God is providing what we need & teaching me to trust HIm, regardless of my circumstances. And I have a new appreciation for so many things in my life that I previously took for granted. God is good!
Thanks again for your prayers!
