Welcome : Newsletters : Cedar Heights Lifeline : Thursday, June 3, 2010 4:30 PM

This is Jason, and I wanted to send out an update on Matthias. Last night was his best night since he's been in the hospital. He is off of the ventilator and his ET tube has been removed. He only gets pain medication when needed, and he still doesn't even want that! He is being a little tough guy. :) The pain meds have some sedatives in them, so he zones out when he does get the meds. We took a picture of him yesterday and we said, "Say cheese!" and he said cheese and gave a half smile! Then later on in the afternoon, he reached for me, and said, "Up daddy." That just broke my heart because we can't pick him up yet. Last night though, was a good night. His vital signs were very good, and he only woke up a few times when the nurse came in to give him his breathing treatments and to re-position him. This morning they took out his radial artery IV that was monitoring his blood pressure. He is happy about that because now he can hold blankey up to his face. They may pull his catheter out today, and the doctor said they may reduce the suction from the tube in his nose that goes down to his belly. He is pretty sore today because he is movnig his legs around a lot...which is a great thing! Overall, he's been doing well, and Melissa, Matthias, and myself can't express how thankful we are for everyone's prayers for us. The Lord is definitely showing us that He is in control. We have been meditating and have been praying the verse, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, present your request to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Its amazing how comforting God is! :) I'm going to head back in to be with Matthias and Melissa now. Thanks again for keeping us lifted in prayer.
