Dear Church Family,
I would like to ask for you to pray for our family, especially my brother Justin and sister-in-law Steph. Justin and Steph are expecting a little boy, Ian Reed Smith, in August. During a routine ultrasound at 20 weeks, it was discovered that Ian had club feet. He is now being closely monitored via ultrasound and a specialist is following him. In the last few weeks they had an ultrasound that showed a few more anomalies. When they met with the Dr. to discuss them, they were told that there is a very strong chance that Ian has an extra chromosome 13 or 18. The significance of this is that, if this is the case, children with these extra chromosomes don't survive very long after birth.
As you can imagine, when we received this news we were all very numb and are still processing this. It is our families deepest desire to share this news with all those who will be praying for us, and especially for Ian and his parents. Ian has already become a part of our lives and we are deeply saddened at the thought of not getting to have him for long. However, we serve a Merciful and Gracious God, and we trust in Him. God has a plan for Ian's life no matter how short or long it may be, and we are so blessed to have him in our family.
Their next ultrasound is this Wednesday at 1:00 pm and we would appreciate prayers, specifically that there would be some positive news at that time. There are several options that have been discussed but this appointment might be a turning point as to how they proceed with delivery. Mitch, Kaelyn and I will be traveling 7 hours to be with them when they decide to induce her so that we all can be together to face whatever is ahead. She is only 33 weeks so the longer they can put off inducing her the better.
Please pray for the decisions that Justin and Steph will be facing this week and for a safe arrival of Ian. Also pray for all of our extend family and friends that aren’t believers. We have many family and friends that are watching and are prayer is that in our words and actions we would show Christ to them and that He would receive Glory no matter what is ahead.
Thank you in advance for your fervent prayers, and I will try and keep you informed.
Trusting in God,
Megan & Mitch (and our family!)
