Welcome : Newsletters : Cedar Heights Lifeline : Thursday, July 29, 2010 8:00 AM
Congratulations to Jason & Melissa Campbell!  Jason and Melissa Campbell's baby girl was born on July 21 at 2:18 p.m. Her name is Ellary Joy Ann Campbell. She weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. and was 19-1/2" long. They returned home on Friday and are doing well. Big brother Matthias really enjoys his baby sister so far (most of the time!).

I just got a call from my sister-in-law and they had another ultrasound today.  They confirmed several of their worries and they also found a small hole in the babies heart! They moved the delivery to a different hospital with more available to help when this little guy comes. Based on what they saw today the following is what they believe to be issues we will have to face:

Kidneys – what looks to be cysts cover his kidneys function is still fine but they don’t know the extent of what this will require. Tests after birth will allow them to set up a plan of action.

They found a small hole in his heart – this they said is either something they could repair with surgery or it may be something they leave and he lives with , or sometimes it will close on its own.

His arms and legs are measuring 5-6 weeks behind. They think that he could catch up after birth, he may just be short, or he may have dwarfism.

He does have a hemi-vertebrae in his neck but this is repairable and would require surgery after he is 3 yrs old. To prevent major problems they are going to schedule a C-section so as not to put pressure or stress on his neck.

His club feet were a little worse than they thought and they are going to schedule his first casting at 1 week old and then his surgeries to follow.

Ultimately they are just waiting for him to get here! They will do tons of tests, x-rays and ultrasounds to assess all of these issues and set up a plan for how to address all the special care he will need. With all of these issues together, Trisomy 13 & 18 are still at the top of their lists of concerns. Please continue to pray over the next 20 days until his arrival for healing, safety, and peace for his parents. Today’s news was very discouraging and as most of you know stress and pregnancy don’t go well together! They are asking for everyone to pray for them and their little boy, Ian. They know God is good and they want to bring glory to His name no matter what comes.

I can’t thank you enough in advance for all of your prayers.

THANK YOU!
Megan Hines
